One of the most important components of the DeFishGear project is to deepen public understanding on the issue of marine litter and catalyze change in their perceptions and attitudes towards marine litter through various awareness raising and educational activities (including clean-ups, workshops, summer schools, etc.). Hand in hand with the activities which aim to catalyze the change in perceptions and attitudes of general public, outmost relevance has been given to the in-depth involvement of policy makers on all levels in marine litter issues. In order to effectively tackle both, general public and policy makers, DeFishGear team has developed tailor made events named “National Info Days”.
Through the past almost two years, “National Info Days” have been organized at least once in each one of seven countries embracing Adriatic Sea (Albania, Bosnia &Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Montenegro and Slovenia), establishing strong relationship between region’s inhabitants and the DeFishGear project. This strong relationship has established joint path for the regional ‘green’ effort to an overall respect for the environment of the Adriatic Region and strong will of the region’s inhabitants to integrate this respect into their daily lives.
